Skateboard Hardware

The screws that hold your world together – not sexy, but essential unless you enjoy walking home.

Skateboard Hardware

Nobody gets excited about hardware until theirs strips out mid-session and suddenly you're walking back to the car. Good bolts are like a solid foundation – you don't notice them until they fail, and by then it's too late. Phillips head remains the standard because it works, though hex bolts have their place if you're the type who's constantly tweaking your setup. Length matters more than most people think: too short and you're gambling with thread engagement, too long and you've got metal spikes poking through your grip. Independent, Thunder, and Bones make hardware that can handle the repeated stress of actually skating rather than just holding your board together for photos. The colored options are fine if that's your thing, but black oxide and silver age better and don't scream "I bought this complete at Zumiez." Proper installation means tight enough to stay put, loose enough that you're not over-torquing and cracking your deck. We keep full sets and individual replacements because good hardware is cheap insurance against walking home from spots.
